Welp, this is the first time I've ever written a blog, and it's essentially being done at gunpoint for a grade (grade point?) Information has been been requisitioned of me, and I am no more than willing to oblige.
A photo of myself is available somewhere in the easterly direction of this post in the profile widget.
My university email address is bakwardkela@neo.tamu.edu (lay off the username, I made it up in the 6th grade, and it plagues me to this day.
I am a 5th year senior, aka super senior. This is due in part to scheduling mistakes I made as an ignorant freshman/sophomore/junior. Also, I wasted two years in the nuclear engineering program. Turns out it's not as easy as it sounds...
Why am I taking Human-Computer Interaction? Honestly, I don't have a good answer for that, as i'm not entirely sure what this class entails. But I knew that I would prefer it over Quantum Algorithms, so here I am.
The experience I bring to this class is that of someone who's been programming for just over 2.5 years and worked over the summer in Florida for a game development company that makes an educational game to train nurses how to conduct complete physical/psychological exams.
My professional life goals branch off into two directions - Either I can gain a high ranking technical position in a large company, or I can confound a successful company. The field isn't too terribly important, so long as i'm writing software that I think is cool and useful.
My personal life goals are a little more colorful, and are separated by && operators instead of || operators. For starters, I want a patent (or copyright, now that i'm in software) that will make me rich enough for my second, ridiculous dream. I want to build my own bipedal mech suit. I don't plan on causing mass destruction or anything, but it would be pretty sweet if I could mount a railgun on it as well.
After graduation, HOPEFULLY i'll have a job someplace as a software engineer. Nothing too wild, really.
In 10 years, I'd like to be at a different company, unless i'm already at an awesome one, in which case i'd like to be making more than I was 10 years prior with a more important sounding title.
The next major technological advancement that I foresee would be...gesture-based interfaces, I guess. This isn't the sort of question that I think about, but it's pretty sci-fi and I haven't heard about any other major up-and-coming technologies yet.
This next question asks about meeting someone back in time. I'm just going to assume that we don't have a language barrier here, so that being established, I'd like to meet Leonardo da Vinci. That man had some cray-cray secrets, and it would be fantastic to see what everything meant.
I feel like a question about shoes is not well directed at me. Shoes don't generally invoke any emotion in my soul, but there is one exception that makes me happy: Hiking boots. I rarely wear them, but when I do, I feel like a tank when walking through mud, plants, etc.
If I could be fluent in any language, I think it would be neat to know Russian. Even though there have been absolutely no circumstances in which I have needed to know Russian, it still sounds cool. Plus, I do a really good Russian accent, and I think I could get away with dealing with some people if I pretended not to know English.
Finally, the most open ended question imaginable, something interesting about myself...
Even though I'm not particularly (read: at all) rich, I frequently partake of gentlemanly activities, preferably in inappropriate locations. For instance, my friend and I occasionally will dress up in suits to go to Northgate on weekends. We're talking all-out class, top hats, ties, blazers, eventually canes, and pipes that we smoke when we're bored My blog picture is actually one of those nights (bonus points if you can guess the bar by looking at the wall!) In the spirit of high-class and stabbiness, I also am an active member in the fencing club at A&M.
My God this post is longer than I thought it would be.
love the suit. nice photo. (and cool blog background)
